The Ultimate Rheumatologist Career

The Ultimate Rheumatologist Career

Before I get into the meat and potatoes, I wanted to give you a little back story (very brief I promise!) why this career was created ? March was for 2021 the Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month. This hits very close home since I live with multiple autoimmune disorders, so I wanted to honor the month in my own way with something I believe I am good at. I know that there are some traits and custom content dedicated to disability but for me, this is not enough. I feel like disabled people are underrepresented in the Sims, so I started working on my own Mod dedicated to this, but since this mod will take very long, I came up with the idea to create a career so I won’t miss the awareness period completely. With that being said, I believe people with disabilities like me and anyone who aims for realism would like to have a career like this in their game. Okay, enough with the back story, now, let’s get to the fun part!

What this career offers me?
Okay, simply put this is a rabbit-hole career, with added interactions. It’s available for young adults, adults, and elders. You have 4 general levels that resemble university and on the last one, you will receive a degree in your household inventory (now the degree is nothing fancy, it’s just a redone of the Sims degrees, but I thought it would be a nice touch).

(If you want to buy it, you can do so by typing Mirai M ~ Rheumatology Degree in the research bar, it cost $150 and it’s in the Wall Decoration category.)

Afterward, your sim will need to choose between two career options. Whether they want to be a researcher and find a cure for rheumatic disorders, or a practitioner who helps individuals with chronic conditions.

The researcher path has 7 levels, while the practitioner path has 4 levels and 5 options for specialization (you can choose just one! it’s basically another track).

Research Field (7 levels)

Level1:
Research Internship – $30/h
Hours: 9:00 – 17:00

Internships are an important part of any practical field, you are impatient to start working on big experiments, but before this, you have to learn the basic stuff. And most importantly, prove yourself worthy to work in this field!

Level2:
Postgraduate Training – $35/h
Hours: 9:00 – 17:00
Days: M-F
Well done! You managed to land this amazing opportunity straight after you finished your internship! Now you work more hours in the hospital laboratory, but still, most of your focus is on documentation .. when the fun will begin, man?

Level3:
Fellowship Training – $40/h

Level4:
Research Assistant – $45/h
Hours: 9:00 – 17:00
Days: M-F
You are officially out in the big world now! You managed to land a real job. But bear in mind that the assistant is usually the one who does the dirty work, and the researcher puts their name on the paper in the end … You will need to run tests, perfect your statistics skills, write drafts, prepare and conduct the experiment. And then write a report to the learned of the research team, about the outcome.

Level5:
Research Associate – $50/h
Hours: 9:00 – 17:00
Days: M-F
With hard work and passion, you are going on the road to success. Just don’t give up! Sometimes it’s hard to make a breakthrough, but with consistency, the water shapes the rock! Now you are supervising the research assistants, so your documentation work is not that much, you have time to start planning and working towards your own research experiments.

Hours: 9:00 – 17:00
Days: M-F
You are the head of the team, now people work with, for your research. Finally, you reached the point to enjoy the fruits of your hard work. You can conduct all the experiments you envisioned during your students’ years (of course, only if they meet the ethics committee criteria). You are passionate to find a cure for rheumatic disorders that were caused by autoimmunity and your ambitious research seems to work so far! Just don’t give up! You are so close …

Ah .. now that’s a fulfilled life!

NOTE ABOUT TRACKS: When you reach the specializations and pick one if you decide you want to change it, the MC Command Center cheat returns you to the first two tracks – research or practice and you need to re-do the practical levels again before the specialization options, I didn’t find a solution to this issue yet.

What else is included in the career?
You will have social and computer interactions. For further spoilers on the added interactions read: HERE

When you press on another sim, you will see a pie menu called “Work”, these are the interactions connected to your rheumatology job.

And when you go on the computer, you will see a menu called: “Rheumatology”. You will have four social and three computer interactions unlocked throughout the whole career, and other extra interactions that will be added depending on the track you choose.

Also, some of the interactions give you money! For example, if you are a practitioner, you will be able to go (it’s a rabbit hole!) and visit a patient in their home, and your sim will return with a payment from the visit.

If you are a researcher you also have options for payment, for example, if you write a research paper or be invited as a guest at a University lecture.

Restricted interactions:
Research Field:

“Be Guest In A Lecture” – Available only in Monday during the day
“Conduct An Experiment” – Available only in Monday during the day
“Write a Research Paper About a Case Study with Lupus” – Available only in Saturday

Okay, I think I shared enough to make you decide whether you want to give it a try or not. Let me know if you have any issues or questions about the career, I will be more than happy to help you!
