Bro House – Inspired by The Sims Classic

Bro House – Inspired by The Sims Classic

I realised the other week that The Sims can’t run on modern computers anymore!
At least not without a lot of convincing (or, more likely, cracking).

I found I could imitate much of the old-style architecture in The Sims 4. It was hard to build a house using the same constraints as the old game! We’ve been spoilt far too long with all this tile division, and intersecting other objects, and ceiling-mounted lights that don’t take up half the room; but I got it. I’m just glad for TS4’s ability to shrink objects so I could make a more varied array of shrubs out of flowers and stuff (if you remember TS1, it had loads of shrubs; TS4, not so much). As far as design goes, I was sort of thinking about Dudley’s House in the GameCube version, crossed with Mimi’s house from Bustin’ Out.

Still, I decided to put in some modern conveniences; namely the laundry machines, circular table, and ceiling fan. I guess Hot Date came with a ceiling fan, so that’s fair. I just couldn’t bring myself to put a second door into the bathroom, though. That’s enough nostalgia for right now.

The coffeepot in the bathroom is sort of an inside joke. Also, since I just got HSY a few days ago, I couldn’t resist making a full-on ’70s bedroom out of the guest room. It’s not very TS1-like, but there we are.
