Adults Get Crushes FIX
My first mod for The Sims 4! It allows sims older than teens to develop crushes. I call this a fix because there was existing code that seemed to be designed to allow older sims to get crushes, but there was some additional code that prevented crushes from ever triggering for non-Teens and it honestly didn’t look intentional. With this mod installed, young adults, adults, and elders will also be able to experience crushes. The odds that a sim YA or older will get a crush is 50% that of the odds for a Teen due to some EA code which I did not modify.
I’m pretty sure this is the first mod that enables High School Years crushes for older sims. If one exists already, I couldn’t find it. Like I said, the code seems to be designed to allow for it already so it took some fiddling to figure out why it wasn’t working. More technical information under the cut if you’re interested:
The specific resource I modified is called “testSetInstance_TeenRelationshipDrama_TeenandProfessor” and to be honest, I’m not sure what this resource was intended to do. I suspect it might be leftover code from a scrapped feature that would let teens get unrequited crushes on teachers and faculty but there’s already a separate part of the code also checks if the target is age appropriate for romance so this situation would never occur even though this test was left in the code.
This resource is only referenced by the AddCrush loot actions and one of the things it checks is if the actor is a Teen so I suspect that’s why it prevented crushes from triggering for older sims. Since a different test already checked if the target was the appropriate age for romance with the actor, this resource didn’t seem to be doing anything useful so I just gutted it. I chose to modify the resource itself instead of removing the check from the AddCrush loot actions to make it compatible with other mods that modify crushes in different ways.
Compatibility:
Should be fully compatible with a.deep.indigo’s Less Random Crushes or really any mod that modifies the conditions for crushes. I don’t expect anyone else to have modified the same resource I did so I don’t expect any compatibility issues.
